NERIST 2012 - North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology conducts entrance examinations for admission into certificate, Diploma and Degree programs in engineering. Three different examinations known as NEE-I, NEE-II and NEE-III are held to take admission at three different levels. NEE-II is held for admission into degree programs in engineering.
NERIST 2012 Tentative Dates
- NEE-I Exam Date: April 29, 2012 (Sunday)
- NEE-II Exam Date: April 28, 2012 (Saturday)
- NEEIII Exam Date: April 28, 2012 (Saturday)
- Last date for receipt of completed applications at NERIST: March 05, 2012 (Monday)
- Availability of application forms: 1st week of February, 2012
- NEE-2012 results shall be declared on: 14 May, 2012 (tentatively)
- Counseling/admission shall start from July 09, 2012 (tentatively)
Eligibility Criteria For NERIST 2012
Age Limit : The maximum age limit for admission is 23 years (28 years for SC/ST/PH and 26 years for OBC and female candidates) as on the date specified on the information brochure.
Qualification : 10+2 PCM/ PCMB, 10+2 Vocational in Electronics/ Farm Machinery & Equipment / Electrical / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning / Automobile Technology/ Structure & Fabrication Technology/ Computer Science OR NERIST Certificate (E&T). A student of NERIST, who is already registered in a Module, can not be allowed to appear at the NEE.
Candidates with 10+2 (Vocational)/ NERIST certificate holders are eligible for admission in Computer Science and Engineering or in their respective branches.
10+2 PCM/PCMB candidate should have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics separately.
Eligibility Criteria also varies according to the type of examinations.
NEE I: The candidates must be an Indian citizen with upper age limit 19 years. For the reservation category there will be relaxation as per the Government rules. The minimum education requirement is 10th pass or equivalent. The candidates appearing for the qualifying examination can also take the examination.
NEE II: For the vocational program the candidates must pass the preferred vocational stream under the recognized board in the country. The plus two pass out in science stream with PCMB as a subject can apply for the technology and forestry program. The upper age limit of the candidates is 23 years.
NEE III: The aspirants must pass the three year diploma degree from the recognized poly technique institute or equivalent degree with minimum 60% marks in the final examination. The upper age limit is set to be 40 years and there shall be consideration for the eligible category.

NERIST 2012 Exam Pattern
The Exam Pattern of the NERIST NEE differs according to the type of the examination.
NEE I: The Question paper is of MCQ format with objective type and the duration of the examination is 180 minutes. The question paper carries 150 marks and is divided into three parts,
- Physics: 35 Questions
- Chemistry: 35 Questions
- Mathematics: 80 Questions
NEE II: The NEE II again divided into two types, NEE II for the Vocational courses and NEE II for the technology and forestry program.
NEE II (Vocational): The question paper caries 150 marks with objective type multiple choice formats. The question paper is divided into five sessions and the duration of the paper is set to be three hours.

- Chemistry: 10 Questions
- Mathematics/Biology: 10 Questions
- Common Engineering Sciences/ Common Biology Sciences: 20 Questions
- Vocational Subjects: 20 Questions
NEE II (Technology and Forestry): The question paper carries 150 questions with three hours duration. The question paper is divided into four parts and the candidates need to chose either of the part third or fourth part according to their preference.
- Physics: 45 Questions
- Chemistry: 45 questions
- Mathematics/Biology: 60 questions
NEE III: The duration of the examination is three hours and there will be 100 questions with 150 marks. The paper is divided into four sessions and the candidates need to attend each part to qualify for the examination.
- Physics: 25 questions
- Chemistry: 25 questions
- Mathematics: 25 questions
- Branch Subject: 25 questions
For each wrong response there will be minus marks in every examination.
NERIST 2012 Admit Card
Admit cards will be dispatched to eligible candidates in the last week of March or 1st week of April by Speed Post. However, one can see his/her Roll No. and Exam. Centre in the Institute website.

NERIST 2012 ResultsThe NEE-2012 results shall be declared on 14 May, 2012 (tentatively) or latest by first week of June, 2012. However, an early declaration of results can be known through the NERIST web site: http: // www.nerist.ac.in and / or Directorates of Higher & Technical Education of the North Eastern States or through local newspapers of the North Eastern States.
Counseling/admission shall start, tentatively, from July 09, 2012 or sometime in the 2nd or 3rd week of July 2012. Selected and wait-listed candidates shall be issued intimation letters in the 1st or 2nd week of June 2012 for counseling / admission.
